This afternoon, Manchester United will play a friendly match against bitter rival Leeds United in Sweden to begin their preseason in earnest.
The cross-Penine rivals are inseparable, and Leeds will play each other twice in the Premier League this season after earning promotion from the Championship a few months ago. Their warm-up games for the next campaign are taking place at Stockholm’s Friends Arena prior to that.
Bryan Mbeumo hasn’t officially arrived from Brentford yet, so his first appearance will have to wait.
The majority of attention will be on United’s £62.5 million player Matheus Cunha, who is expected to make his Red Devils debut after moving from Wolves earlier this summer.
Everything is getting ready for the first weekend of Premier League action on August 18, when Leeds will meet Everton at Elland Road. Manchester United will play Arsenal the day before in a highly anticipated Super Sunday match.
